Children's Cartoon Framed Wall Hanging Arthur Weaver 1920s through the 1940s
16" x 19" Framed Art Print Wall Haning
Handpicked, pre-owned
Beautiful Children's Cartoon charatcter wall hanging, Your 16" x 19" framed piece is a vintage commercial lithograph, likely distributed by a major mid-century print house like the Buzza Company or Edward Gross Co., which specialized in framing these exact illustrations for department stores.
The text "Weaver was here" written directly onto the old car or background is the artist's clever signature. Rather than signing the corner of the piece like a traditional fine art painter, Arthur Weaver regularly hid his name inside the scenery of his children's illustrations as a playful "easter egg" for kids to find. This technique kept the focus on the story happening in the cartoon and became a recognizable trademark of his work.
