"I am sick of being a puppet . . . it is time I became a boy." These are the thoughts of Pinocchio, a puppet who comes magically to life when his "father," Geppetto, carves him from a piece of enchanted wood. Although Pinocchio desperately longs to become a real boy, he is prone to misbehaving and lying, which plunge him into misadventures that are both comic and dramatic. Only when he learns to behave responsibly and listen to the advice of those who truly care for him does he come to realize his dream. Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio has been one of the best-loved works of fiction for children since it was first published in 1883. This edition features illustration in black and white and full color by Charles Folkard.
